Sea and greenery, houses of illustrious citizens converted into museums, centers dedicated to the history of aviation and astronomy, and even an iconic circus built in 1984 are all part of the charms of Miraflores, the district you will discover step by step on this free tour we have designed for you.
Just 20 minutes from the Historic Center of Lima, old Miraflores was a retreat for wealthy families. Today, although times have changed, the “Heroic City,” as it is also called, attracts locals and visitors alike with its well-kept parks, boardwalks overlooking the sea, and cultural spaces.
We will visit famous Parque Kennedy, the Neo-Gothic beauty of the Iglesia La Virgen Milagrosa, and the houses of writer Ricardo Palma and politician and historian Raúl Porras Barrenechea. Let’s walk through the aisles of artisan markets, where you will appreciate the best of Peruvian folk art, make a stop to discover the aromas of national cacao at ChocoMuseo, and explore the renovated atmosphere of Calle San Ramón.
By seeing each attraction in this neighborhood, you will fall completely in love with Miraflores, a destination you will explore calmly and without rushing, listening to the stories and anecdotes of our local guide, an expert on this district that, due to its historical past and modernity, is a favorite among travelers like you.
Important Note: If you want to explore the historic center of the city, check out our Free Walking Tour Lima to discover the Plaza Mayor, Jirón de la Unión, Bar Cordano, etc.

During the tour, you will learn about the scientific and technological milestones that marked the country’s aerospace development, from the pioneers of civil aviation to contemporary contributions in space sciences.
Crafts Market
From the thought and work of one of the great Peruvian intellectuals of the 20th century, to the creativity and color of Miraflores artisan markets, where ancestral wisdom and knowledge are expressed in multiple forms.
Ayacucho retablos, Pucará toritos, Chulucanas ceramics, Cusco religious imagery, fine alpaca wool textiles, Andean landscape paintings, among other examples of folk art, will reveal to you the cultural richness of Peru, a country of creators.
Take advantage of the tour to purchase more than one souvenir of your visit to our country. By doing so, you not only help preserve traditional craftsmanship, but you also boost the economy of small producers.
ChocoMuseo
On this tour, you will make a brief and free stop at ChocoMuseo, where you will discover the history of Peruvian cacao, from its cultivation to its transformation into handcrafted chocolate. Additionally, your guide will tell you about the uniqueness of Peruvian chocolate, which mainly lies in the climatic diversity that produces beans with fruity, floral, nutty, and caramel notes.
La Tarumba Circus (exterior visit)
With a touch of laughter and smiles, you will discover the old circus “La Tarumba.” Founded in 1984 by the enthusiastic Fernando Zevallos together with his group of young artists with one purpose: to bring joy to the hearts of Peruvians, and not only that, but Zevallos and his team were motivated to promote art, theater, and circus as tools aimed at social development and building a better Peru.
Casona Raúl Porras Barrenechea (exterior visit)
Raúl Porras Barrenechea was an illustrious Miraflores resident who left his mark through his intellectual work and contributions to the understanding of national history.
Born in Pisco, Raúl Porras Barrenechea (1897–1960) excelled in the academic field as a historian, professor, and researcher. In politics, he served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the Senate of the Republic.
Today, the historic mansion that witnessed the untiring work of the author of Fuentes históricas peruanas—his most important book—is the headquarters of the Instituto Raúl Porras Barrenechea of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos.

Casa de Ricardo Palma (exterior visit)
Before becoming a cosmopolitan district, Miraflores was a place for rest and relaxation. For that reason, in the 19th century, there were so-called ranchos or country and summer houses.
In one of those ranchos, Ricardo Palma (1833–1919), author of Tradiciones Peruanas—satirical chronicles describing the customs and traditions of our society—spent the last years of his life.
Dubbed the “beggar librarian,” Palma took charge of reactivating the National Library of Peru, which had been ransacked by the Chileans who occupied Lima (1881–1883) during the War of the Pacific.
Currently, Palma’s house is a museum honoring the memory of the beloved writer. If you want to learn more about his life and work, visit it at the end of the free tour.

Parque Kennedy
Head straight to the heart of the district to enjoy one of Miraflores’s green lungs, where tranquility blends with culture and even gastronomy, creating a space for meeting, relaxation, and entertainment amid the urban hustle and bustle.
Located within the 22,000 square meters of Parque Central—which also includes Parque 7 de Junio—a bust of John F. Kennedy, the U.S. president who was assassinated in 1963 in Dallas, was placed at this site in 2023.
At Parque Kennedy, visitors enjoy interacting with the cats that inhabit this green space, visit the Parroquia Virgen Milagrosa, and participate in various cultural activities. They also sample the delights of street food.

Iglesia Virgen Milagrosa
Located in front of Parque Kennedy, we will admire the Neo-Gothic architecture of the Parroquia La Virgen Milagrosa, designed by Polish architect Ricardo de Jaxa Malachowski and inaugurated in the mid-20th century.
The church stands out for its fine interior stained-glass windows representing biblical passages and for being the main liturgical center of the Miraflores district.
Calle San Ramón
We will walk along this iconic pedestrian alleyway, historically popular as the “Calle de las Pizzas” due to its Italian culinary offerings during the 20th century.
Following recent urban renewal efforts, the alleyway has redesigned its commercial and gastronomic offerings, transforming into a modern tourist corridor for leisure and local and international gastronomy.
Parque del Amor
Erected atop the cliffs of the Miraflores boardwalk, Parque del Amor is an emblematic corner dedicated to romance and the scenic beauty of the capital. Inaugurated on Valentine’s Day, this picturesque space stands out for its undulating walls covered in Gaudi-style mosaics featuring verses by Peruvian poets, framing the imposing sculpture “El Beso,” created by the renowned artist Víctor Delfín.
Its privileged position offers an unrivaled panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean and the Costa Verde bay. It is the mandatory stop on the route to relax, enjoy the maritime landscape, and contemplate one of the most impressive sunsets in Lima.
Ending Point
The free tour ends in the surroundings of Parque del Amor, Miraflores. A safe and welcoming place where we are sure you will want to stay a while longer to contemplate the beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean in the company of the park’s romantic essence.

Amazing experience in Miraflores!
The weather was wonderful, and we had a great time overall on the tour! The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, explaining all the history and local spots super well in Miraflores. Everything went smoothly from start to finish. Highly recommended!
Nathan Bergmann
Modern district with an ancient core
You walk past cafes and shops and then suddenly there is a pre Hispanic pyramid. The guide connected the two halves of the story well, from the holiday homes of wealthy families to the Lima culture that built the Huaca.
Marina Kovacs
100% recomendado!
Alex Ridgeway
Great orientation walk in Miraflores
Kennedy Park, the artisan markets, the Ricardo Palma house and Huaca Pucllana in two hours. Our guide was excellent on the archaeology and gave us a lot of practical tips for our stay in Miraflores.
Pilar Otero
Sophie Girard
Guia excelente e roteiro variado
Ethan Caldwell
The Huaca is the star
An adobe complex from around 200 AD, used later by the Wari and then the Ichma, sitting in the middle of one of the most modern districts in Lima. The artisan markets before it were fun too. Two well spent hours.
Valentina Suarez
Holly Ngata
Safe, easy and genuinely interesting
As a woman travelling alone I felt completely comfortable. Small group, the guide checked nobody fell behind, and the route sticks to busy streets. Learned a lot about the Lima culture at Huaca Pucllana.
Sara Bettini
Yuki Tanaka
Excellent English and very well organised
We joined the English tour and the guide spoke clearly and slowly enough for us to follow everything. Kennedy Park, the Porras Barrenechea house and Huaca Pucllana. Two hours and we never felt lost.
Christopher Vaughn
Huaca Pucllana is worth the tour on its own
Huaca Pucllana and the Ricardo Palma house were genuinely excellent and the guide knew her material inside out. The artisan markets on the way were a good change of pace between the two. Two hours that covered a lot of ground.
Elena Pardo

Free tour in Miraflores
I really enjoyed this tour, we visited the Kennedy Park, the craft markets and then a pre Hispanic site from the Lima culture by the name of Huaca Pucllana, all in two hours. The guide explained how the Wari and later the Ichma used the same complex. Well structured walking tour!
Ines Barreto
Tour a pie recomendado!

We started at Kennedy Park while learning about its history and famous cats, stopped by ChocoMuseo, and browsed through the vibrant handicraft markets. Walking past historic sites like the Ricardo Palma and Porras Barrenechea mansions gave us great insight into local culture.
Finishing right in front of the pre-Inca Huaca Pucllana temple was breathtaking! The tour was super well-paced and packed with value. 100% recommended!

Perfect on your first day of Lima
We did this the afternoon we landed and it oriented us completely. Kennedy Park, the artisan markets, and then Huaca Pucllana, which we had walked past twice without realising what it was. Two hours very well spent.
